The 2014 Salmon Fest Concert rumour mill has kicked into overdrive in Grand Falls-Windsor, with no official announcement made yet regarding a headline act.

The Eagles were announced as last year's headliners on March 28, but this year the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor said they would make the announcement around that same time this year.

However, more than six weeks later, not a single band has been revealed.

Music fans like Glenn King are speculating about who's going to be on the concert bill.

"Lately we've heard it's three big acts that's coming here ... they say they're going to blow the mind of what was here before. Now I heard that from a pretty good source, so hopefully it will be good," King said.

Concert promoter SRO entertainment told CBC News on Thursday that this year's acts have finally been lined up and the official announcement will likely be made next Wednesday.

But as for the previously-announced concert date of July 12, the promoter said that's not set in stone.

Concertgoer Arlene Oram wonders what a different date could do for those who live outside Grand Falls-Windsor.

"It wouldn't change anything for me, I'm in the area. But for anybody who has to make arrangements for vacation time, that might change," said Oram.

The town said it will not comment on the festival for the moment, or confirm what the concert promoter has told the CBC.

Last year’s Salmon Festival featured the Tragically Hip and Blue Rodeo, in addition to The Eagles.
