Nevaeh Denine takes lemons and turns them into lemonade for blood donors
Smiley-faced girl and pediatric-cancer patient Nevaeh Denine thanked blood donors with a glass of lemonade at a donation clinic in St. John's Tuesday.
Denine, 5, has been battling Neuroblastoma for almost two years. At the age of three, she needed lots of blood to stay alive.
"It saved my life," said Denine, as she handed out lemonade to those giving blood at the Canadian Blood Services clinic on Wicklow Street.
"It was a life or death thing, like she needed the blood and plate [transfusions] to live," said Holly Denine, Nevaeh's mom.
"It saved her life, We're very, very grateful to everyone that comes out and gives blood."
Navaeh Denine is inspiring people across the province, like Richard Walsh, to step up and donate.
"I was talking to someone here. They told me this was happening today, I said, 'OK great, I'm due for a donation, so I set it up in honour of Neveah," Walsh said.
The pint-sized inspiration isn't new to the lemonade business. Last year, she told her mother that she wanted to build the biggest lemonade stand ever.
Together they raised just over $25,000 for children dealing with cancer at an event in the Goulds neighbourhood of St. John's.
Denine hopes to surpass that total in Goulds on Sunday when she takes her lemonade stand to a carnival.
