Workers to resume work for first time since environmental protests, says union leader
It appears work at Muskrat Falls is ready to start up again.
Darin King, executive director for the Newfoundland and Labrador Building and Construction Trades Council, says contractors started calling workers back to the site over the weekend, which Nalcor confirmed.
Most workers were sent home earlier this month as protests mounted over planned flooding of the Muskrat Falls reservoir.
But after an agreement was made between the province and indigenous leaders in Labrador, King said workers are ready to return to the site.

—@nlbctc"People are generally wanting to get back. There was obviously some uneasiness and a little frustration with the protest and what transpired," he said.
"There's a number of projects that we've been involved with up there that are time-sensitive because of the weather."
King said he expects most workers will be back at Muskrat Falls by the end of this week.
"As fast as workers' return to site, now work will commence on the various projects that we're involved with up there."
"I'm estimating that over the next several days we should get back to the full complement required."
