Trinity Conception RCMP still had a portion of North River Road closed Monday.

This after RCMP continue to study evidence collected in the Conception Bay town after a man in his 40s died in a case that police call suspicious.

Staff Sergeant Boyd Merrill says police are advising that there is 'no known threat to the general public resulting from [the] incident.'

Merrill said an autopsy is scheduled to be completed by the province's medical examiner.

Sunday, police shut down traffic for hours on the community's main road, after Dale Porter was pronounced dead. There was a heavy police presence Sunday in several Conception Bay communities, from Brigus to Spaniard's Bay, and two RCMP cruisers were seen parked near a bar associated with bikers in Cupids.

Police are not commenting for now on the cause of death.

Police were called to his residence before 4 a.m. Sunday, when he was found suffering from serious injuries.

"The report was that there was a male there with serious injuries. When they arrived, they did find that, and the male has succumbed to his injuries," said Sgt. Greg Hicks.

People in the area said Porter had spent Saturday night at the Coach House Lounge in nearby Bay Roberts, and that he got a taxi home after closing time.

No arrests have yet been made in the case, and police are still following leads.

"I can tell you our investigators are following up with a number of people today," Hicks said.
