Moose takes a dip, causes traffic stir in St. John's
A moose that took a refreshing dip in a St. John's pond Wednesday also caused headaches for police on one of the city's busiest roads.
The moose swam through Kent's Pond, which neighbours the Confederation Building complex of government buildings.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary later had to halt traffic on the nearby Prince Philip Parkway because of the moose's movements.
A busy section between the College of the North Atlantic campus, which is near Kents Pond, and Allandale Road was closed for the better part of an hour.
Wildlife officers managed to tranquilize the moose while it was in the water and pulled the animal from the pond.
It was brought outside of St. John's, where it was monitored before being released.
[Update] Prince Phillip is reopened to #nltraffic /The moose which was originally stuck in mud @ Kents Pond apologizes 4 any inconveniences!
