German airplane diverted to Gander

A German airplane made an unexpected landing in Gander on Tuesday afternoon, after smoke was reported in the airplane cabin.

A German airplane made an unexpected landing in Gander on Tuesday afternoon, after smoke was reported in the airplane cabin.

The Lufthansa 747 aircraft was carrying 375 passengers from Frankfurt, Germany to Orlando, Florida when it was diverted.

First responders were on site late afternoon, working to determine what caused the smoke.

All passengers were taken off the aircraft and are waiting in the Gander airport.
