This immersive walking tour of Long's Hill is breathing new life into a historic street
Louise Moyes revives walking tour with first in-person performance since 2018
Every street in St. John's has a story — and an immersive walking tour wants to take audiences through the many tales that have shaped the downtown street of Long's Hill for centuries.
Performance artist Louise Moyes is reviving her walking tour, "Long's Hill: I Live(d) Here." The tour began in 2018 with a series of sold-out performances, says Moyes, but she had to pivot online in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tour is back to having in-person performances for the next two weekends, with one walk offered each evening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Moyes bills the walking tour as a "docudance," since the tour shares the stories of Long's Hill through interpretive dance performances, photographs and interviews. Audiences will also meet other Long's Hill residents along the way, says Moyes, who share their own experiences living and growing up on the street.
Get a sneak peek of the tour, and hear how Moyes aims to connect neighbours through storytelling, at the video above.
