Just 10 people voted against relocation while 85 residents voted yes, the Department of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs said in an email to CBC News.
The result was 89.47 per cent and the threshold for relocation is 90 per cent.
"It's not going to be pleasant time in this community if the number is not there," said former mayor Perry Locke
Two years ago, the province hiked the maximum payout per household in relocated communities to $270,000. Previously, the amount was $100,000.
A representative from the department said "next steps will be considered after the [provincial] election."
