The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador has suspended the nomination process for candidates in districts across the province, as the number of seats in the House of Assembly remains in limbo.
MHAs returned to Confederation Building Monday to debate proposed cuts to the House of Assembly.
Premier Paul Davis is aiming to cut 10 seats at a savings of $2.5 million a year.
An independent commission will be chosen to rewrite electoral boundaries in the province.
The provincial Liberal Party noted the suspension in a news release, announcing that Bill Carter will be the Liberal candidate in the district of Fortune Bay-Cape La Hune.
The party said the suspension of nominations will continue until further notice.
