Well-known personal injury lawyer Ches Crosbie is set to make a political announcement on Thursday.

The announcement will be made at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre at 10 a.m.

There's speculation that Crosbie will announce his intention to seek the Conservative nomination in the federal riding of Avalon, which is currently held by independent MP Scott Andrews, who was suspended from the Liberal caucus in November over allegations of harassment.

Crosbie is the son of John Crosbie, a former high-profile provincial and federal politician.

John Crosbie also served as Newfoundland and Labrador's lieutenant-governor from 2008-2013.
