Land & Sea archival moment | 1968 Sealing

Land & Sea is celebrating 50 years on the air this season.
To celebrate, CBC Newfoundland and Labrador librarian Carolyn Atkinson has been digging out old footage that hasn't been seen in years, including this gem from 46 years ago.
Sealing 1968
Come to the St. John's waterfront in 1968 where young and old have gathered for an annual spring tradition. A sealing vessel — the Chesley A Crosbie — is about to depart port. The excited men listen in as the roll is called and the hunters take their place on board. Land & Sea Host Dave Quinton talks to some of them as they wait about the communities they belong to, their years at sea, and the many merits of the gaffe.
