Trash clogged a culvert screen on Kenmount Road during periods of heavy rain and wind Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
It caused the pavement to lift and give way in the eastbound curb lane.
Gravel was brought in Thursday to fill the sinkhole, and the lane was reopened by Friday morning.
