Olympic silver medallist Kaetlyn Osmond won't be competing in the 2015 figure skating season, after suffering injuries in the fall.

Osmond said on Twitter Monday that she would not be able to defend her title as the two-time national figure skating champion.

"Sad to not be competing this year. But it'll be a good time to fully heal and be back full strength and better than ever!" Osmond tweeted.

Osmond is a native of Marystown, in southern Newfoundland, but trains in Edmonton.

She also won't be part of the Canadian team at International Skating Union Four Continents competition in February, and the world championships in March.

Osmond had surgery on a broken leg she sustained during practice in September.
