Justin Wiseman has been convicted for his role in a Feb. 9 riot at Her Majesty's Penitentiary in St. John's.

Wiseman, 23, was sentenced to just under seven months at provincial this morning.

Part of that sentence is related to an earlier incident of property damage in his cell in March.

The court was told Wiseman played a role in instigating the riot, saying "Let's get this mother f--king show on the road."

While leaving court, Wiseman looked into a CBC camera and said, "Blood in. Blood out."

According to urbandictionary.com, "Blood in. Blood out" is a phrase associated with gangs. It means a person must spill someone's blood in order to join, and the only way out is to die.

Much of the brutal attack inside the penitentiary's chapel was captured by a surveillance camera.

The video shows inmates viciously attacking convicted killer Kenny Green with homemade knives and pieces of a church pew.

Before the attack started, an inmate covered the camera lens with a towel, but the towel slipped off moments later, revealing a scene of chaos and violence.

The video was shown Thursday at the trial for Calvin Kenny, Jody Clarke and Justin Harvey, who are also charged in relation to the riot.

Wiseman pleaded guilty.

Another accused, Philip Pynn, will be tried separately. Pynn was convicted earlier this month of manslaughter. His trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 1.
