Eastern Health is opening an interim family practice clinic on the Burin Peninsula today.

The clinic was set up to help address the shortage of family doctors in the community of Burin.

The Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre will be staffed on a rotating basis by three hospital physicians.

According to Eastern Health, the temporary fix will continue until full-time physicians can be found.

The town of Burin was left with a doctor shortage this fall after two local doctors left their practices.

Eastern Health announced plans for the interim clinic in December.
