Inmate charged after assault at Her Majesty's Penitentiary

There was an altercation between two prisoners at the penitentiary in St. John's Thursday.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers were called to Her Majesty's Penitentiary at 11:55 a.m., after officials reported an assault.

They found that one inmate was complaining about being assaulted by another.

The assault was minor in nature.

A 31-year-old man was charged with assault and breach of probation.

He is set to appear in court at a later time.
