See a visual presentation of how the rolling outages and blackouts affected Newfoundland Power and its customers earlier this month.
Earlier this week, Newfoundland Power executives made a presentation to the Public Utilities Board on the details of what happened after rolling outages started on Jan. 2.
The plan had been for Newfoundland Power to use the rolling outages to manage a limited supply of electricity while its supplier, Crown-owned Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, made repairs to its generating system.
But a fire two days later at the Sunnyside substation knocked out power across almost all of Newfoundland, only to be followed by a failure the next night at the Holyrood plant.
Here are some of the details we saw in Newfoundland Power's presentation, which help illuminate the scale of the outages.
