A baby was sent to hospital with serious injuries after being bitten by a family dog in Paradise on Sunday afternoon.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said it was called to the home in the Elizabeth Park neighborhood at 2 p.m. on Sunday, in response to what it called an "animal-related" incident.
Const. Geoff Higdon said the family dog, a pit bull, had bitten an infant. Higdon says the baby was taken to the Janeway Hospital in St. John's to be treated for serious injuries.
Higdon said the dog has been seized by police and is being kept in quarantine. An RNC investigation is ongoing, but he said it's too early to say whether charges will be laid, or what will happen to the dog.
