One charged, 3 released after backhoe bank robbery in Holyrood
Man charged was driving dump truck with stolen ATM in vehicle, police say
A 33-year-old man from Conception Bay South has been charged following a bank robbery in Holyrood on Monday where a stolen backhoe was used to demolish the front of the building.
The RCMP says the man was arrested shortly after the robbery while driving a dump truck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Paddy's Pond.
Police say the truck was also used in the robbery and a stolen ATM was found in the back.
The man is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday on charges of breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, property damage over $5,000 and breaching the conditions of a release order.
Three other people were arrested in connection with the robbery on Monday, but police say they've since been released. An investigation is continuing that could result in more charges, the RCMP said.
Police are also looking for more information about the dump truck, a grey 2011 Jeep Patriot and a 2002 dark blue Ford F-350 truck.
