Historian surprised by Order of Canada nod
Three men with ties to St. John's are being named to the Order of Canada
Author and historian Jean-Pierre Andrieux of St. John's says he was surprised to hear that he's being inducted into the Order of Canada.
"If I have that [recognition], it's really a shared honour because I believe my wife deserves this as much as I do because we do everything together — so it's a joy for both of us," Andrieux said.
Three St. John's men are among the latest honourees to be named to the Order of Canada.
Legendary broadcaster Bob Cole is being honoured as one of the country's most iconic announcers.
Robert Mellin is being appointed for his efforts to preserve and restore Newfoundland's built architecture.
The Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
Since the Order's inception in 1967, more than 6,000 people have been named as members.
Now the Order of Canada. Great honour. Of course. Ya get in line. They order you. From tallest. To shortest. Biggest to smallest. And ya go
