St. John's singer-songwriter Brianna Gosse is lending her voice to the soundtrack of a murder mystery airing on a Hallmark specialty channel.

Flower Shop Mysteries: Mum's the Word stars Brooke Shields and Beau Bridges, and premiered Sunday night on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.

Gosse's song Fall For You has been featured in the film.

"It was kind of a fluke, I guess," Gosse told CBC Radio's St. John's Morning Show on Monday.

Gosse said she's been working with a publisher at Sound of Pop, an independent record label based in Nova Scotia, for about a year.

"He's had a copy of my album and has been showing it around to different people looking to buy music for ads or movies and whatnot," she said.

"This one came together really neatly and quickly — like, last week."

Hallmark's 24-hour cable network airs in 55 million homes across the United States.

While Gosse isn't sure when Canadian audiences will be able to watch the film, she's excited that American viewers will hear her music.

"I've watched movies with Brooke Shields for years, so it's really cool to be a part of something like that," she said.

"I hope nobody hears it and they're like, 'Wow, that's a terrible song. I'm never going to listen to that girl,'" she joked.

Gosse said she'll share links to the movie on her Facebook page once they become available.
