A new feature from Vogue magazine online has listed the Fogo Island Inn as one of its top-five winter vacation destinations.

The publication published the list earlier this week, featuring its top spots for bracing winter holidays, and Fogo Island Inn was ranked against locations in Iceland, Greenland, Japan and Norway.

"Strap on a pair of snowshoes and walk the ancient footpaths with Make and Break, the inn's two fluffy Newfoundland dogs, then recover in the rooftop wood-fired sauna, surrounded by lichen-covered rock beds," reads the article.

Recently, Fogo Island Inn was listed as a finalist for a National Geographic World Legacy Award, as one of three contenders in the sense of place category.

The idea for the inn began at a community meeting in 2004, after the Shorefast Foundation started spearheading education initiatives on Fogo Island.
