First Listen: Newfoundland Pride by Jim Bragg

Jim Bragg swears he wasn't musical as a child, and he only picked up singing, playing guitar and writing music as an adult.

Jim Bragg swears he was never musical as a child, and that he only discovered he could sing by doing karaoke with his buddies.

"A friend of mine, when I met him in Gander, told me, 'It's your turn to play guitar,' and he passed me the guitar," recalled Bragg.

"I said, 'I don't know how to play that,' and he said, 'Well, I think you'd better learn.'"

Bragg was 23 at the time, and has spent the last two decades singing, playing and writing his own songs.

Bragg worked with producer Dave Fitzpatrick to create his debut album, Newfoundland Pride.
