Jake Nicoll plays with four bands in St. John's and runs a small recording studio, but he has still managed to carve out time to create a double album of his own solo material.

Two Things and Half of Nothing contain songs written and arranged by Nicoll, and he played almost all the instruments on the double album.

"I did drums, bass, electric guitars, piano, a lot of different keyboard sounds and a lot of vocals," said Nicoll.

"What you lose on efficiency you gain on honing in and doing something more unique."

Nicoll said the songs on the double album were written over the past seven years that he has lived in St. John's.

St. John's Jake Nicoll is this week's First Listen, and there's twice the fun - Jake's just released a double album.
