Federal Progressive Conservative Leader Peter MacKay says he likes the idea of a fixed link between Newfoundland and Labrador.
MacKay, who was in St. John's attending party meetings, says it's time to talk about joining the island to the mainland.
"Newfoundland and Labrador should be linked if they are to have access to the markets in Montreal, Toronto and elsewhere," he says.
"These are priorities of our provincial and federal party."

MacKay isn't saying how much such a link might cost, or where the money would come from.
