Fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident in Happy Valley-Goose Bay

RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay have confirmed a female pedestrian died following a collision on Hamilton River Road Friday night.

Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP is investigating a fatal pedestrian-vehicle collision in the town Friday night.

The accident occurred on Hamilton River Road, near Hamilton Drugs.

Police learned that a female pedestrian was crossing the street, when she was struck by a black GMC Sierra pickup that was travelling northwest.

The driver, a 58-year-old man, stopped immediately and has co-operated with police. 

The victim was taken to the Labrador-Grenfell Health Centre where she succumbed to her injuries at 11:45 p.m.

An RCMP traffic analyst will be processing the collision scene, as the investigation continues.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the accident.
