Police responded to reports of an industrial accident at St. John's International Airport Wednesday afternoon, on a day when equipment problems caused flight delays and cancellations.

The RNC answered a call shortly after 2 p.m. that an excavator had overturned during snowclearing operations on the tarmac.

The man operating the excavator was uninjured.

The accident wasn't the only problem at the airport on Wednesday.

Several flights were delayed or cancelled Wednesday night and Thursday morning due to equipment problems.

The problems were caused by piled-up snow which had interfered with some navigational equipment at the airport.
