ECMA 2015 nomimations for 35 N.L. musicians, industry people
Newfoundland and Labrador artists and industry people received 20 musical, 11 industry and four Fans’ Choice 2015 nominations during an East Coast Music Awards announcement Wednesday.
Well-known bands Hey Rosetta! and The Once scored three nominations each. Steve Maloney and the Wandering Kind scored two nominations.
St. John's band The Secrets, who performed at the announcement, are nominated for country recording of the year. Members Renee Batten, Terri Lynn Eddy and Karla Pilgrim were thrilled when their nomination was announced.
"It was pretty emotional actually, I had a lump in my throat when I heard the name come up on the screen. It's great," Batten said.
"It's exciting, after all the hard work you put into something to be recognized for it is really, really exciting. And we're in good company, so it's pretty cool," Pilgrim added.
East Coast Music Week is in St. John's from April 8 to the 12, and the awards gala takes place on April 9 at the Jack Byrne arena in Torbay.
