Donnie Snook to plead guilty to N.L. sex offences

A former Saint John, New Brunswick councillor and youth ministry leader will be pleading guilty to sex offences against children in Newfoundland and Labrador, his lawyers say.

Donnie Snook, 41, was sentenced on Thursday in New Brunswick to 18 years in prison for 46 sex crimes against children. 

Snook is also facing four child exploitation charges in western Newfoundland.

He is accused of assaulting a boy while he was a pastor with the Salvation Army in Mount Moriah in the mid-1990s.

His defence lawyer said Snook intends to plead guilty to the two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.

Lawyer Dennis Boyle has asked for those charges to be transferred to Saint John, but could not speculate how long that might take.
