Domestic violence calls keep Springdale RCMP busy

Over the course of two days, RCMP in Springdale arrested two men for separate domestic violence incidents and seized firearms.

 RCMP in Springdale arrested two men in two days, and seized firearms, after separate incidents of domestic violence. 

On Monday, police received a call of a possible break and enter in the community of Pilley's Island, but once they arrived realized they were dealing with family violence. 

A man, 59, was arrested and charged with uttering threats, assault and unlawful confinement. A woman, 53, was unhurt in the incident.

As part of the investigation, police seized a number of firearms from a home.

The accused has been released from custody to appear in court later. 

Call about woman assaulted in street

The next day, officers got a call from the public about a man assaulting a woman on a street in Springdale.

By the time RCMP arrived, the man was gone. He turned himself in to police Wednesday morning.

The 25-year-old was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats, and held for a bail hearing Friday.

Again, police seized a gun.

The woman had minor injuries. Police said other assaults had occurred previously.
