Former Newfoundland and Labrador premier Danny Williams is moving forward with plans to develop a 2,400-acre area in the west end of St. John's.

On Tuesday, he announced that 87 acres is available to build an industrial park near the Trans-Canada Highway.

It's the first phase of the Glencrest development adjacent to Southlands.

Williams says he has no doubt the land will sell.

"A lot of major projects are going on right now in Newfoundland and Labrador," he said.

"There is a lot of exploration now going on offshore. So you know I think the future is really very bright for Newfoundland and Labrador, and I'm bullish on the economy here."

Williams hasn't said what the whole residential and commercial development will be named yet.

He said he expects to announce the area's new name this fall.
