Danny Williams hosts Frank Coleman, Tory caucus at IceCaps game
It appears that Frank Coleman's meeting with the Tory caucus rolled over into a social event hosted by former premier Danny Williams.
Coleman, the Corner Brook businessman who is poised to take over the reins of the Progressive Conservative Party in early July, was seen chatting with Williams on Wednesday night in the former premier's box at Mile One Centre.
Joining them were numerous members of the PC caucus, who had met earlier in the day with Coleman.
Williams has not publicly endorsed Coleman as the party's next leader, although he spoke out against Bill Barry's candidacy before Barry, also a Corner Brook businessman, collapsed his leadership campaign on April 17. Barry's decision left Coleman acclaimed as the leader.
For his part, Coleman has denied allegations that his political ascent is due to Williams, who retired as premier in 2010. "I can assure you that I am nobody's boy," he said in an interview last month.
The IceCaps won the playoff game against the Norfolk Admirals 2-1, bringing the series to 1-1.
