Child sex doll suspect pleads not guilty

A St. John's man who was charged with a number of offences last March including possession of a child sex doll, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. 

Kenneth Harrisson, 48, was charged with having child pornography, possessing obscene material and smuggling prohibited goods.

Canada Border Services agents intercepted a package at Toronto's Pearson International Airport, destined for St. John's in January 2013.

Authorities said the package contained a human-like figure, which turned out to be a child sex doll — something that's illegal in Canada.

The child sex doll seizure was a first for police in Newfoundland and Labrador, laying a charge in relation to a disturbing item confiscated in a child porn investigation.

In a St. John's court on Thursday, Harrisson's lawyer entered not guilty pleas on his client's behalf.

Harrisson is slated to stand trial in July.
