Canada Post says it's working with a Mount Pearl woman who tried to stop contractors from ripping up her property Friday to make way for a new super mailbox.

Jo-Anne Lyver said she received no notice that workers were coming to install mailboxes on her property Friday morning and she couldn't look on while they tore up her lawn.

"They're just telling me they have rights. Well, I'd like to see that in writing — their rights," Lyver told CBC News Friday.

Lyver stood in the way of contractors in an effort to block the mailbox from being errected.

In a statement to CBC News Monday, Canada Post spokesperson Anick Losier said it takes Lyver's concerns "very seriously."

Canada Post says it is working with Lyver to come up with a "suitable resolution." (CBC)

"We are working directly with her to find a suitable resolution while ensuring continued mail delivery for the neighbourhood."

Lyver managed to convince the contractors to leave, but they returned later that afternoon.

However, Lyver said she stood on her property and refused to move even when a crane dangled a large concrete block above her head.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary were called but no charges were laid in relation to the incident.
