A St. John's woman has been given another lengthy prison sentence in provincial court on Monday following an armed robbery earlier this year.

Camille Strickland-Murphy, 21, was sentenced to three years for an armed robbery at a Shopper's Drug Mart in east end St. John's on Sept.3.

Strickland-Murphy handed the pharmacist a note saying, "Hello there. Act normal. I have a gun and a knife. If the police arrive everyone is dead. No exceptions and we are not worried about prison time. So give the register money, all percocet and Ritalin. After over five minutes you're dead."

A staff member managed to call police to the scene. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary subdued her quickly, and found a cordless drill tucked into her waistband, as well as a knife.

At the time of the incident, she was on probation to keep the peace and be on good behaviour.

In 2012, Strickland-Murphy demanded money from a woman, while holding a knife to her throat, at an ATM in Churchill Square.

Strickland-Murphy, who has a history of mental illness and substance abuse, was out of prison for just three months when she committed the September armed robbery.
