Residents of Conception Bay South are being told to be vigilant this weekend after a possible coyote sighting in the community.

Residents of Conception Bay South are being told to be vigilant this weekend after a possible coyote sighting in the community.

Officers with the provincial Department of Environment and Conservation’s Wildlife Division spent part of Friday in the area of Anchorage Road checking out the report of the possible sighting.

“We advise residents to notify your neighbours and to please make the necessary precautions to keep your families and pets safe,” said an advisory released by town officials.

As of Saturday there was no word whether a coyote had been located.

People are being asked to call and report any possible sightings to the Department of Environment and Conservation’s Wildlife Division at (709)729-4180.
