Bruce Cockburn, Hey Rosetta! to headline Folk Festival in St. John's

Canadian folk legend Bruce Cockburn, hometown heroes Hey Rosetta! and iconic children's performer Fred Penner will share the stage at this summer's Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival. 

Organizers for the festival announced the lineup Wednesday in St. John's.

The festival returns to its traditional home in Bannerman Park, near downtown St. John's, after a temporary relocation to Bowring Park while renovations were made at Bannerman. 

Other headlining acts include The Fables, Matthew Byrne, The Secrets and Celtic Connection.

The festival will be held Aug. 7 through Aug. 9. 

This year marks the 39th edition of the Folk Festival, which promotes itself as the second-oldest continuously running festival of its kind in Canada.
