Brad Gushue calls game-winning shot best of his career

In what he's calling the best shot he has ever made, Brad Gushue's raise-double-takeout gave Newfoundland and Labrador a heart-stopping 8-7 win over Alberta on Wednesday at the Tim Hortons Brier.

In what he's calling the best shot he has ever made, Brad Gushue's raise-double-takeout gave Newfoundland and Labrador a heart-stopping 8-7 win over Alberta on Wednesday at the Tim Hortons Brier.

Gushue jumped for joy and punched the air after he pulled off the shot. 

He later tweeted that it was the best shot of his career, and that he would "need a beer" afterwards.

On Thursday, 

nd his Newfoundland and Labrador team handed the Northern Ontario team its first loss at the Tim Hortons Brier in Alberta Thursday.

Gushue edged the Brad Jacobs team 6-5, moving the Newfoundland and Labrador team up 8-2 and knocking Northern Ontario down 9-1.

Team NL is now alone in second place with a record of 8-2, and a date with Quebec (6-4) in the evening draw.

Gushue, who won gold at the Olympics in 2006, has yet to clinch the Brier title in his 12 appearances at the event.
