Bob Dylan tribute show perfectly in tune with Nobel Prize award
Dylan tribute performers say singer-songwriter perfect choice for Nobel Prize in Literature
It's a big day for fans of Bob Dylan. It was announced Thursday morning that the American singer-songwriter was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature — and for a handful of St. John's musicians, the timing couldn't be better.
A Bob Dylan tribute show is planned for Thursday night at Holy Heart of Mary High School in St. John's. Organizer Chris LeDrew says Dylan has long played a role in his music and his work.
"I've been teaching Bob Dylan at university for several years now, ever since I started taking English lit," LeDrew said.
"I've always considered his lyrics to be as good or better than some of the people in the literary canon in The Norton Anthology of [English] Literature."
