New millionaires Caroline and Clayton Leyte were presented with their Lotto 6/49 winnings at a small ceremony in central Newfoundland Thursday afternoon.

The couple, who accepted the $1-million cheque in their hometown of Bishop's Falls, won on Atlantic Lottery's April 11 Lotto 6/49 draw.

"Now that we have it, we know it's real. All week it's just been a blur," Clayton Leyte said following the cheque presentation.

His wife Caroline Leyte, wooed by a Diet Pepsi sale, purchased the winning ticket at Shoppers Drug Mart in Botwood.

"I'm a Diet Pepsi addict, you could say," Caroline Leyte said. "They had it on four for five, so I said, 'I have to go to shoppers to buy Diet Pepsi.'"

"I went in to buy eight, I didn't have any money so I said, 'Oh my God, I have to use Visa now for 10 bucks,' so I said, 'I'll buy my tickets."'

No retirement plans yet

Clayton Leyte teaches math at Exploits Valley High in Grand Falls-Windsor, and Caroline Leyte works at the Discovery Centre in Botwood.

Both say they will continue working.

The Leytes plan on investing the money and using it on their daughter and three-year-old grandson.

"We may book a trip to Disney for our grandson and spoil him a little," said the Leytes.

The presentation was held at the Bishop's Falls Public Library.
