Someone who took an all-terrain vehicle for a spin on a Labrador golf course has left a hefty bill for the cleanup.

The ATV was used to do donuts on the green of the third hole at the Amaruk Golf Club in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Thursday night.

Club vice-president Howard Bishop estimates it will cost about $5,000 to fix the damage.

"It was a horrible sight to see. There is a lot of work that goes into the greens, and a lot of money, because it takes so much to get the greens to come," Bishop told CBC News. "So it's very disheartening."

The RCMP are investigating the incident.

The club is looking for tips that may help identify who's responsible, and said the club may even provide a free membership if the tip leads to an arrest.
