Arrest made in George Street stabbing incident

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has a person in custody in connection with a stabbing on George Street in St. John's early Saturday.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has a person in custody in connection with a stabbing in the George Street area of St. John's early Saturday.

Police responded to a report of the disturbance around 2:30 a.m.

Officers discovered an injured man, 36, who was taken to the Health Sciences Centre.

The incident happened outside a nightclub in the George Street area.

Const. Talia Murphy said police have arrested a man, 18, and he is scheduled for a court appearance Saturday afternoon.

Murphy said the victim remains in hospital with injuries that are "significant" but non-life threatening.
