April snow brings May ... snowbanks? N.L. blanketed in layer of white

There were two kinds of angry people in parts of Newfoundland and Labrador Wednesday: people who didn't want to shovel, and people who wanted a snow day.

More snow fell in the province overnight, this is a small taste from St. john's.

There were two kinds of angry people in parts of Newfoundland and Labrador Wednesday.

One group was upset that they had to break out their shovels, gloves and scrapers to deal with an early-spring snow storm.

The second group was hoping to have enough snow to close schools and businesses, but were missed by the heavy dumping of snow.

On the Avalon Peninsula, some areas saw 18 centimetres fall overnight Tuesday, with Environment Canada estimating another two and four cm to fall through the morning.

Snowfall warnings remained in effect for many eastern areas of the island, but flurries tapered off by noon.

Unlike in Labrador, the Burin Peninsula got just enough snow to make a nice winter scene. If only it wasn't spring! (Submitted by Danielle Slaney-Edwards)

Having snow in April is a bitter pill to swallow when spring weather was so close to being in your grips.

If you're in an area most hit by storms late in the season, you don't want to hear the complainers.

Just when you think you can break out the shorts, Newfoundland and Labrador weather happens.

Some people found humour in others'  no-snow day sadness.

The saddest person of all had to be the meteorologists who can't seem to please everyone at once.
