Labrador Straits ferry out of service, flights offered

There are more ferry problems in the Strait of Belle Isle. Parts needed to repair the MV Apollo are not expected to arrive until Monday.

The company that operates the ferry service in the Strait of Belle Isle says parts needed to repair the MV Apollo are not expected to arrive until Monday. 

In the meantime, Labrador Marine said flights are being offered to passengers over the weekend in Blanc Salbon and Sandy Cove. 

The company said a flight will also be offered Monday morning at 8 a.m. Passengers are asked to check in at ferry terminals an hour prior.  

Labrador Marine estimates that the Apollo will be out of service until Tuesday. 

An update is expected Sunday at noon.
