Days after provincial conservation officers killed a polar bear near St. Anthony, a second bear has been sighted in the area.

Officials urge caution, days after marauding bear was shot and killed in same area

Days after provincial conservation officers killed a polar bear near St. Anthony, N.L., a second bear has been sighted in the area.

The RCMP say a "very large" polar bear was spotted just before sunset last night in the Stock Pond area, near the Northern Peninsula town.

The pond is a popular cabin area, and police are cautioning people to be vigilant while travelling or staying at a cabin there.

Wildlife officials plan to be in the area today.

If anyone spots the bear, they're asked to contact the RCMP or the Department of Natural Resources.

On Thursday morning, wildlife officers shot and killed a polar bear in Goose Cove, about 10 kilometres outside St. Anthony.

That bear tried to enter at least four homes and killed animals at a nearby farm before it was shot.
