Within an hour and a half, members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary were sent to three separate collisions in the St. John's area, including one that involved a school-age boy, on Thursday afternoon.

The first collision happened around 2:00 p.m. in Paradise, at the intersection of Topsail Road and Paradise Road.

The RNC said three vehicles were involved in incident, which led to three people being taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Not long after that accident was cleared and the vehicles were towed away, police were called to the Foxtrap Access Road, where a 10-year-old boy had been struck down by a vehicle.

Police said the boy was alert and conscious when he was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Minutes later, another collision was reported on Topsail Road — this time near Blackmarsh Road in St. John's.

A crash, involving a transport truck and several vehicles, closed the westbound lane of Topsail Road.

As of 3:30 p.m., traffic was being detoured through Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Police said there were no injuries.
