The torrential rain that hit many parts of New Brunswick this week has set a number of rainfall records, according to Environment Canada data.

The torrential rain that hit many parts of New Brunswick on Wednesday has set a number of rainfall records, according to Environment Canada data.

The deluge has caused localized flooding in many parts of New Brunswick.

The amount of rain that fell between 2 a.m. on Wednesday and 2 a.m. on Thursday set a number of records.

The rainfall amounts and previous records for that date are:

  • Kouchibouguac 133.1 mm; the previous record was 23.6 mm in 1975​

  • Moncton 122.2 mm; the previous record was 32.3 mm in 1975

  • Grand Manan 108.4 mm; the previous record is not available

  • Fundy National Park 100.6 mm; the previous record is not available​​

  • Miramichi 98.7 mm; the previous record was 29.5 mm in 1975​
  • Saint John 82 mm; the previous record was 80.3 mm in 1975
  • Fredericton 48.6 mm; the previous record was 39.1 mm in 1953​
  • Bathurst 56 mm; the previous record was 15.2 mm in 1972​
  • St. Stephen 45.3 mm; the previous record was 27.9 mm in 1903
  • Miscou Island 42.1 mm; the previous record was 30.5 mm 1975
