The Marathon By the Sea is now under way, so if you’re planning on taking the Saint John Harbour Bridge, you might want to make another plan.

Plan ahead if you need to travel across the bridge today

The Marathon By the Sea is now under way, so if you're planning on taking the Saint John Harbour Bridge, you might want to make another plan.

That's because part of the marathon route goes over the bridge.

One eastbound lane over the bridge and the off ramp to Chesley Drive will be closed to traffic until 3 p.m. today.

One lane will be open for motorists, but the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h.

The marathon started at the Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal at 8:00 a.m. this morning and follows a mapped route across the city, leading back to the terminal for the finish line.
