Bullying topic of discussion

The Pride flag is flying in Riverview, kicking off Pride Week in the Moncton area.

The flag was raised outside the town hall on Sunday. It marks the beginning of the 13th annual festival and a week of activities and parties.

But organizers say the event will also explore the topic of bullying.

This year's Pride marshall is Adam Roberts, a teen in Salisbury.

"We're honouring him because of his braveness with coming out because he's gay and seeking some help because he's being bullied because of his sexual orientation," said Sebastien Bezeau, chairman of River of Pride.

Organizers also plan to show the movie Bully and follow that up with a debrief session.

The parade is scheduled for Saturday.

Pride Week in Fredericton and Saint John wrapped up this weekend.
