The first peregrine falcon egg of the season was laid at Hopewell Rocks Park over the weekend, according to a guide at the park.

Kevin Snair, an interpretive guide at the park, had been keeping an eye on some of the peregrine falcons in recent days, hoping they would nest this year as they have for the last four years.

He set up his video camera and he witnessed the laying of the first egg of the season on Sunday.

The Hopewell Rocks officially open on May 17.

Snair said he is looking forward to sharing this experience with the park’s visitors.
